Day Tour to Plovdiv, the Bachkovo Monastery and the Assen`s Fortress is a very complete and informative tour. It includes three of the major sites of Bulgaria. These are Plovdiv, the Bachkovo monastery and the Assen`s Fortress. You will dive in the depth of the Christian religion and will get back to the remote 13th century. This is the time when the Bulgarians built and fortified the strategic Assen`s Fortress. In Plovdiv you will go through various periods of the rich history of the town. You will admire a beautifully preserved Roman Theater and a Roman Stadium. Not less interesting are the colorful mansions that belonged to the local wealthy merchants from the 18th and the 19th century.

Plovdiv is a mosaic of rich culture, art and abundance of historical sites. This tour is a must-do if you have only a weekend in Bulgaria and you want to see something more than the Capital city.

Authentic Bulgaria Tour is a program, that I designed few years ago when I realized how beautiful and undiscovered the Bulgarian countryside was. My idea was to give the chance to my clients to indulge in the magic of the rural part of the country. I included unique features such as home hosted meals, first hand crafts and interaction with locals. I think that this is the best way to get familiar with the every day life of the locals. In most of the places included in the program, the people rarely see foreigners. That is why, they are happy and even a bit shy to communicate. You will get a big smile from an old man or will collect plums from a plumtree on the street. This is the uniqueness of the experience called Authentic Bulgaria.

Why the Authentic Bulgaria Tour?

Take the unique chance to see Bulgaria in-depth and to discover its culture

Visit beautiful virgin areas and remote villages where you can still see the authentic features of the Bulgarians

Enjoy accommodation in small hotels and guest houses full of character

Taste the delicious home made Bulgarian traditional food

Take the unique chance to interact with locals

Experience the narrow-gauge train

Benefit of the complete flexibility of having the tour tailored to your requirements

Have the freedom to alter the program, even while you are on the tour

Enjoy the most experienced guides in Bulgaria

If you choose any of my tours, you can also:

Adjust the number of the days of the tour according to your availability

Decide if you would prefer to stay in hotels, guest houses or home hosted accommodation

Ask for further customization of the tour, related to your particular interests

Include wine tasting

Have some time for hiking or trekking

Attend available events or festivals

Ask for available concerts or other cultural performances in the places where you stay

Have a cooking class organized exclusively for you

Sofia Communist Tour is a product that I designed few years ago. I realized how interesting and unknown for the visitors the communist past was.

How the Sofia Communist Tour will go?

I will pick you up from your hotel and we will walk to the central part of Sofia. There we will see the most important communist buildings related to the communist past of Bulgaria. We will tour the central part for around two and a half hours. During the tour I will provide some extremely interesting information and historical facts about the communism in Bulgaria. If you would like to get further information, we will get on metro for some 20 minutes and will get to the Socialist Art Museum. There you will admire some of the giant statues of communist leaders that are on display. There is an interesting projection about one of the greatest communist Bulgarian leaders, Georgi Dimitrov. We will get the metro back to the central part and I will drop you off in your hotel. In total the tour will take around 3 and a half hours.

Few interesting facts about the emblematic communist Trabant car

Produced from 1957 to 1990 by former East German car manufacturer.

It had a duroplast body mounted on a one-piece steel chassis, front-wheel drive, a transverse engine, and independent suspension.

The 1980s model did not have a tachometer. It did not have an indicator for either the headlights or turn signals. Neither it had fuel gauge, rear seat belts, or external fuel door.

The drivers had to pour a mix of gasoline and oil directly under the bonnet/hood.

Today it is part in the list of the Retro cars in Bulgaria

Rural Bulgaria Tour

It is a fantastic choice to escape to the countryside and feel the freedom of the rural life. This program aims to take you closer to what Bulgaria was until fifteen years ago and how it is today. Here we combine overnight stays in traditional villages with visits to historical sites, crafts and meeting locals. In the evenings you will feel the spirit of a century-old life and sincere hospitality, combined with delicious local cuisine, based on organic food and home-made drinks (wine and fruit brandy among them).

The Bulgarian villages have its charm are all year round during each season. However, the summer is full of flavors and fruits, greenery and sun. This is the period when the villagers prepare their food for the winter and prepare conserved tomatoes and peppers, juices and local specific conserved food.

The culture of Bulgaria

The Bulgarian culture is the product of its geography and its rich historical past. Biggest influence today we have from the period of the Ottoman Empire. Along with many Turkish words that we still use in our vocabulary, our cuisine is also very similar to the one of Turkey and the Middle East. We also have many similarities in the superstitious beliefs, in the music and in the architecture. Another aspect is the patriarchal customs in the Bulgarian families. Not less intriguing is that until few years ago, the women covered their heads and the arranged marriages were not rare.

Rural Bulgaria Tours is a journey through the Bulgarian development throughout the centuries. You will fully dive in the rural life and the way the locals live today. It is just a fantastic way to get back to the past and to feel the simple life that people lived.

Trust our experience and enquire your tour today! We will gladly send you a customized program in order you fully enjoy your adventure!

Tour of Sofia with the Vitosha mountain will make you familiar with the central part of Sofia, but also with the beauty of the Vitosha mountain. It is a combination of a standard tour of Sofia and visit to the closest mountain to Sofia. The tour will take around 5 hours.

In the Tour of Sofia with the Vitosha mountain you will see the following landmarks of Sofia:

The Saint Aleksander Nevski Cathedral, the National Assembly, The Saint Sofia church, the Holy Synod, the former Russian embassy, the Russian church, the former Royal palace, the City garden, the National theater, the President`s palace, the Council of Ministers, the National archaeological museum housed today in a former mosque, the TSUM department store, the extremely interesting Roman ruins dating to the 4th century AD, discovered only in 2006, the Mosque dating to 1567, the Synagogue built in 1909, the Saint George Rotonda 4th century AD – one of the oldest active churches in Europe.

You can wander around Sofia for hours, but being with a fun and knowledgeable guide is a completely different experience. Visit the Vitosha mountain is easy: our guide will take you to the top of the mountain by private car. There are two roads in the mountain that the visitors can take. One of them will take you to the Kopitoto area. There is a spot that offers a beautiful panorama view towards the city. It is also possible to see the high mountains of Serbia and North Macedonia. Here is also the part where you can admire the majestic “Moreni” area, a unique natural phenomenon, called also the “stone river”. The second one will take you to the Aleko hut. From there you can hike to another part of the “stone river”. It is also a starting point for hiking to the highest peak – the Cherni Vrah (2290 m).

The Vitosha Mountain:

It is one of the jewels of Sofia with its proximity to the city, exquisite nature and amazingly rich flora. It covers an area of 300 km2. Its average height is 1500 m (4900 ft). The highest point is Cherni Vrah. It reaches 2290 m (7500 ft). Nine rivers flow from it, including one of the longest in Bulgaria called Struma. The Vitosha mountain is the first national park in Europe declared already in 1934. The landmarks of the Vitosha Mountain include the Dragalevtsi monastery, Boyanski waterfall, the Golden bridges area, the unique “stone river” and of course the Boyana church.
