Bulgaria & Romania Tours

Bulgaria & Romania Tours

Bulgaria and Romania Tours is a result of long-year work with my great partner from Romania Mr Andrei Nicolau. We have been working together for more than 10 years now. Every tour that we organize is a perfect symbiosis of our expertise, knowledge and experience. In our work we always do our best to turn the tour to a real experience.

Bulgaria and Romania Tours is a section where you will find tour combining the best of both countries.

Romania

In Romania you will have a chance to visit local Gypsy families, to learn about their origin, their culture and way of living today. Many regions of Romania are still virgin and undiscovered. The customs and the crafts are still alive and practiced mainly by the old population in the remote areas. Romania has beautiful rural regions where people are very hospitable and always happy to meet foreigners. Some of the most popular sites in Romania are Sighisoara, Sibiu, Brasov, the Carpatians, Maramuresh area and the Painted monasteries. Romania is a country that certainly has to be visited before it becomes way too westernized.

Bulgaria

Some of the mountainous regions are real virgin areas, where people still use donkeys and horses as a main mean of transport in their every-day life. They produce themselves most of the food such as milk, yoghurt, cheese, butter and meat. Around the vast and green pastures of the Rhodope Mountain, you will see flocks of thousands of sheeps, goats and cows greasing the nutritious green grass. In the big towns like Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv and Sofia you will enjoy beautiful buildings and rich history. Along with the visits, you will taste delicious traditional Bulgarian food and fantastic local wines.

The combined tour of Bulgaria and Romania will give you a complete insight of both countries. It will take you to the 19th century life of the people.

What is the advantage to book a tour of Bulgaria and Romania with me?

  • I will plan the itineraries in both countries and will send you a detailed program

The Rhodope Mountain

If you travel during the rose harvest period (end of May, beginning of June), it would be a great possibility to pass by the blooming rose fields. Together we will adjust the dates in a way you arrive in Kazanlak right for the festival. During the rest of the tour you will enjoy fabulous sites, Ancient history, Roman remains, Thracian tombs and beautiful sights. You will pass trough small villages with tiny houses where people still live in the “olden days”. Centuries will pass before your eyes while exploring ancient sites, sanctuaries, monasteries and secluded areas. I can combine any program with the Rose festival. It only has to be during the period of the festivities, preferrably from June 1 to June 10. Just tell me what is your plan and I will develop it to a great itinerary.

I usually run One Day Tours to Kazanlak during the period of the rose harvest. It starts in the last decade of May until mid-June. This is the time when the blooming roses scatter throughout the vast rose fields. The name of this variety is Rose Damascena. It has a very intrusive scent, a result of the high concentration of oil in its petals. Its scent is spreading all over the Valley of Roses during the 25 day long harvesting period. A must-do part is to stop at a rose field and to collect petals of the blooming roses. Taking photos is another favorite part of my customers (and mine as well :). The people that work on the fields are always happy to pose. They will also show you how to pick up petals without pricking your fingers.

In my One Day Tours to Kazanlak I include visit to a rose distillery where one can see the process of boiling rose oil.

The Thracian Tomb in Kazanalk

Kazanlak Thracian TombThe Rose Valley is also famous as the Valley of the Thracian Kings. In the Antiquity it wss the territory of the vast Odryssian Kingdom established by the Thracian tribes. The world bearly knows about this ancient civilization, but it is extremely interesting and intriguing. The visitors of  Bulgaria get extremely surprised to get aqcuainted with this part of our history and most of them admit the uniqueness of the Thracian tombs that they visit in the area of Kazanlak. One of them, The Kazanlak Thracian Tomb is part of the list of UNESCO. More about it you can read here: The Thracians.
